Color changing question
19th-Jan-2006 04:43 pm
I know there are people here that are really great with color substitutions and combinations so I was hoping for some advice on which number or numbers of floss would be best for hazel eyes?

I am doing two threads over 14ct Aida for my cats and it has them with both blue eyes but I thought since it was a Valentine present for My boyfriend and he has blue eyes I would make the other cat with my eye color which is hazel to brown. And as soon as I can I am making myself a floss cheat tapestry which someone, yes I forget who, talked about doing. I think it would be great even if I keep it rolled up like a scroll in the drawer. LOL Do you think it would be better to do the colors in order or in color grouping?

I would take 1 strand of a grey/blue or grey/green and 1 strand of a kind of golden, tan color. That seems like hazel to me!

that's what I was thinking! a grey/green or a brown/green.

I think I am going to have to go look myself in the eyes. LOL Thank you both for the great suggestions.

DMC has a group of hazel nut brown colors: 3828, 420 (dark), 422 (light) and 869 (very dark).

Regarding your "floss cheat tapestry", sarahrose posted about making one in December 2005, Silly idea?, referencing noreallyidid's November 2005 post Really cool bobbin storage idea, which was about La Boîte à fil Nuancier.

The DMC color card for embroidery floss has the colors arranged in columns by color grouping with variegated colors at the end.

Hmmm Those are some very nice colors. I think I need a mirror for this. Thank you for the recommendations.

You are so very awesome! Thank you. I loved the idea but forgot to bookmark it at the time.

And for the DMC link as well, it is so much better then the one I had gotten to, which asked me what language I wanted to view it in and didn't list the Rayon even though it appeared to be an official site.

I dont even know what color hazel is... but I thought I'd just let you know I think its a very nice idea you had to change the cats eyes to personalize the piece :)

I always thought it was a green/brown color, But I'm not sure anymore. Thank you, =) I'm not sure if he will notice but he might.

When I do stuff like that I get the satisfaction from just having done it, if my special other notices is nice... but I get most of my satisfaction from noticing it myself. Hard to explain...

I understand what you mean. I guess I just sit in the shadows so much anymore that it is really nice to have things noticed.
