It's Done

Avengers- Steed & Emma
A favorite moment of mine in the movie "1776" is of John Adams' reaction when the resolution to declare independence is finally passed. It's only a few seconds long, but you can see what the struggle to accomplish this has meant to him as he simply says, "It's done. It's done." Now, I do not in any way compare my cross-stitch to the birth of a nation, but I thought of that scene yesterday when I put the last stitch in my Star Wars piece. It does still need framing (thank goodness for 75% off at Joanne's!) and then it will be shipped off to the young married couple, but the stitching is complete. For those who care about such things - start date: March 6, 2016, end date: January 2, 2017; approximate number of stitches: 46,000.
It felt very odd this morning not to be stitching before I went to work, and odd again not to be stitching at lunch. I'm taking a day or two off before I start back with the two pieces I put aside to concentrate solely on Star Wars. Meanwhile, here is my latest opus:

That's amazing! And congratulations on the finishing time --- I think you were pretty quick considering the size and complexity of the piece!

*semi-unrelated* ;) LOVE the movie version of 1776. Didn't know there were deleted scenes until we watched the entire version with those scenes added back in...ON July 4th last summer. I was very sad this year when both Ken Howard and James Noble died. 2016 was a rough year for fans of art, movies, television, literature, music, sports, science... *sigh*

Now I need to go watch the movie again. :)

was this a kit? Please oh please tell me where it came from!

Yes and no. I bought the pattern on EBay for the entire Empire Strikes Back poster and then did major modifications to cut out all the characters except Han and Leia and added in the lettering.

It turned out beautifully! I'm so jealous of your recipients! They're so lucky!

Aw, shucks. Thanks! It's at the framer's now and I'll post another photo before we ship it off to the bride & groom.
