Recent Entries
This is a community to share your cross stitch works with other interested people. We're also here to help with any embroidery questions you have!

The moderators for this community are [info]bekscilla (previously bekki_n), [info]cathouse_blues and [info]emohdee - please be aware that you can contact any of us by emailing bekki_n and cathouse_blues at livejournal dot com and siran underscore drauka at yahoo dot com

Although this community is dedicated to cross-stitch, please don't feel that you have to stick to cross stitch! Other types of embroidery or similar crafts are welcomed.

Please however, go to the LJ FAQ for all Livejournal questions.

************

There are only a few rules here: Cut Tag any pictures, don't advertise things and don't share copyrighted material.

All pictures must be cut tagged. Pictures of your work are welcomed and encouraged, however we do ask that you use lj cut tags (go to the FAQ and livejournal specific tags section for help).

Don't advertise things includes advertising your auctions. If you want to advertise a community, use LJ's official page at [info]community_promo. If you'd like to organise a swap, please feel free and if you're giving stuff away, please only request payment for postage. Failure to follow these rules will result in your post being removed.

Don't share copyright material: Most, though not all, kits, charts and patterns have a statement reading something like "permission granted to copy/photocopy for personal use." "Personal use" means so you can write on it, mark it up, use highlighter, whatever – usually so you don't damage the original – but it does not mean you can give away or sell photocopies, scans, electronic files or other copies of the product for someone else's "personal use".

It's fine to post an image of the product (behind an lj-cut), or a link on where to find it, but please do not post that you will share a chart or pattern, nor links to "sharing sites". The moderators will remove such posts or comments, and those who post them will receive a warning the first time. Repeated offense will result in banning from [info]cross_stitch.

NOTE: Please be kind to your fellow members who may be under eighteen or who may read the community at work and restrict your icons to a "G" rating. If you have any question about where your icon might fall, please feel free to contact a moderator.

If you have any questions about the community, feel free to email me, and put cross-stitch community as the subject.

Black Cat
In the spirit of Easter Sunday for Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Protestant Christians I offer more pics of the progress on Glastonbury Cross:

I've had a few days of mostly rest to make some progress, here. )

[info]crackerhead honey, I know I've been slacking on the MSAL2 -- it's just not where my heart's been of late so I'm working GC while I've got the mojo for it. :) I'll catch up and complete MSAL2 soon, hopefully before the end of the month.

20th-Mar-2010 10:10 pm - WIP update, Dragonflies
Treble Clef
After the gardening we've done the past few days (mostly getting things set up and soil prepared, etc.) I've needed something relatively simple and non-challenging to sit with in the evenings. :) So Dragonflies won out, since it was all backstitching the first flower/bug.

Before and after: Dragonfly Bachelor #1: )

I'm almost done on part 2 of the MSAL2. I got part 3 today, which reminded me I need to scoot right along on that.

I took a little time to get started - this is my first MSAL, and it took me some time to decide on the colors - but I finished Part One last night

I decided to go for a jewel tone look )

I used some 16 count white Aida (had it on hand), and some fun DMC colors from my stash.

Looking forward to Part Two!

I like the pattern a lot, but I fully admit that I am not good at picking out colors. I gave it my best shot.

First picture of my attempt of Castles in the Air. =D Ordered everything on Wednesday (or Thursday), got the package on Saturday, started on Sunday.

Still gotta decide which metallic thread I want to use, but I might head off to the shop tomorrow and compare floss with what I have so far.

Anyway, the picture.

So - I've been fighting the good fight for supremacy over my damn computer today.  I seem to have won for the moment.  At any rate, while I was waiting for the computer to finish running all the fix it stuff I managed to finally put the last stitches into my version of our MSAL from last year - hooray!  And that's when the trouble started....
I promise I edited out the swear words... )

2nd-Jan-2009 09:35 am - Um - how did that happen? o.O
Hedgehog

One of my favourite things about New Year's is the cross stitch retrospectives.  I love looking at how much we've all accomplished.  The new techniques, fabrics, designers and flosses we've tried.  Such a supportive group of people.  I loves yous guys!

As I started looking through my gallery to choose pictures I was shocked to see how many pieces I'd finished this year.   Of course a good deal of the little ones were completed with a baby sleeping in my lap. :D   I was on maternity leave until July.  Once he was mobile production went waaay down. :P   And I also finished a number of UFO's.  What a great feeling.

This post is extremely picture heavy.  The photos at the beginning are fairly crappy due to crappy camera that would not zoom - hence too much background.  My apologies in advance.   ETA- all images are clickable. :D

Thanks for looking!

Scott Caan-Actor
Finally had the chance to finish the MSAL last night.  This is the one and only picture that I have.  It's been so much fun working on the MSAL and seeing everyone's progress and finished pieces.

For awhile I was working on a birthday gift and Christmas gifts and put aside "The Generals" but over the past few weeks I've picked it up and have been working on it again.  My plan is to finish it and also finish up some other wips that I have going before starting something new.  That plan can change very easily.

I've taken pictures of all of the Christmas gifts and need to resize them before posting them here.

Reeds along a canal
I wasn't too sure if I should post or not as my MSAL didn't turn out quite the way I thought it would, trying to avoid a lot of frogging. As for the other project I managed to involve myself in, well, despite nearly a week on it, there's not much to show. However, it's been a while. =]

27th-Nov-2008 10:58 pm - One WIP, two finishes!
stitchery
The last couple of days at work have been slow-ish, so I've gotten a bit done. I've done three of the little mittens to go to my gaming group for holiday gifts. I also finished the MSAL all up and like how it looks. The picture is a little skewed because of the effects of the Q-snap. I posted it last so folks that don't want spoilage can stop before then. I did all the blue on Old Glory Angel's dress in a couple of days. A solid field with semi-random odd stitches out takes a lot longer than it seems like it ought to.

If I'm mis-remembering MSAL rules and shouldn't be posting yet, please let me know and I'll take that picture off.

Back here! )

My BFF/roomie/platonic lifemate says they all just look like red mittens on black backgrounds, so I decided to repost the other two pictures. They're all done 1-over-1 on 28-count black Jubilee with Weeks Dye Works Garnet.

7th-Nov-2008 03:39 pm - MSAL Part 4 and WIP Update
Aquarius

Finally getting an update in!   It's been ages since I last updated.   I've set the Tiger aside for now.   I haven't touched it for two months.  I just suddenly got tired of looking at it.   My plan for getting my WIPs and UFOs under control this year has gone out the window.   I've decided to just go with the flow and not force myself to continue working on something that I'm not enjoying.

31st-Oct-2008 04:58 pm - MSAL Part 4

I am liking how this is going, and looks like the pics are also getting better. I had to do a bit of frogging - i found out i was doing the wrong order of the crosses:(

Now till the next instalment...

How do you folks remember which cross comes first??!! i always seem to be doing the wrong / .. Any tips to avoid that please?

Whew. I missed you guys! I've been pretty much completely offline for four days while moving and waiting for the cable guys. Plus, my old camera died the dead death after six years, four moves and countless vacations. So I have a new one. I haven't quite worked out it's peculiarities yet, so some of the MSAL pictures look a little odd. If it's too early for MSAL pictures, please let me know and I'll take them down.

I also finally got the JBW Designs French Country Love that I finished back when I was doing FISH finished. I was trying to figure out a way to finish it. I thought about pillows, framing, attaching it somehow to a tote... and then I found some trivets and it was the perfect size.

Pictures of everything back here. )
