After Google-ing and such for 45 min or so I've decided to come to the experts.

I just took on my mom's floss box and she has a lot of Susan Bates thread and I'm at a total loss at finding a conversion chart or even many references to the thread on the internets.

Well, it appears the brand name is a subsidiary of Coats & Clark. If no-one finds a conversion chart, you might be able to get one by contacting C&C.

Coats and Clark's site has never worked for me, so unless the OP has more luck, it might be easier just to get a DMC colour card (not that much, especially on sale) and use that for conversion purposes.

I just called C&C and talked to a nice woman named Ann. She told me that at one time (25 years ago!) they had a conversion chart. However, the company has moved three times since then and that information has been lost. She said the best bet is to eyeball it with a DMC color card on hand.

wow! I can't believe you called them for me. Thanks so much! I do have a DMC color chart so I guess I'll just have to use that. Thanks again!

You know how every once in a while the stars align and the world just somehow knows that perfection is needed? Well, today's that day, my friend. I just received some older Dover pattern books in the mail and to my amazement there is a conversion chart in the back from DMC to Royal Mouline to (wait for it) Bates/Anchor!

Email me the numbers you need to find the matches for and I'll look them up. DevonShea5 at aol dot com.

Oh, and no biggie on the phone call. It was an 800 number. I had nothing else to do at that moment! LOL. You're welcome, though.
